A plastic bag size such as 8 x 12 inches is only useful when you also know how it was measured. Width and height may describe the outside of the pack, the usable space or the body before a flap. Start with the packed item and the bag construction, not a capacity name alone.

This guide brings together the inch-size selections currently listed on PackPoly Pakistan and explains what to confirm before ordering. A size selection is not a tested fit, load rating or guarantee that every material, colour and print combination is listed. Minimum order: 25 kg; prices remain on the relevant product pages.

Listed bag sizes: a starting chart

Bag family Listed inch-size selections Important selection limit
LDPE clear plain bags 4 x 6, 5 x 8, 6 x 9, 8 x 12, 10 x 14, 12 x 16, 12 x 18, 14 x 20, 18 x 24, 24 x 36 These added common sizes are listed under Clear. Other colours retain a custom-size route.
HDPE bags 5 x 8, 6 x 9, 8 x 12, 9 x 14, 10 x 16, 12 x 18 These common selections are flat and plain. Gusseted, carry and printed combinations require their own specification.
PP transparent bags 4 x 6, 5 x 7, 6 x 9, 8 x 11, 10 x 16, 12 x 18 These common selections are flat and plain. A flap or garment construction is not assumed from the size.
D-cut / D-handle bags 6 x 8, 8 x 10, 10 x 12, 10 x 14, 12 x 16 Confirm usable height below the handle, material and printing. A cut-out reduces usable body space.
FlexiHold zip lock bags 3 x 4, 4 x 6, 5 x 7, 6 x 8, 8 x 10, 10 x 12, 12 x 16 Confirm whether length is measured below the zip or to the outside top edge.

Custom-size selections are also present on these listings. Request confirmation of the exact dimensions and construction before placing a custom order. The chart records catalogue selections, not a ranking of Pakistan's best-selling sizes.

Measure the space the product can actually use

  1. Prepare the packed item. Fold garments as they will be sold, include any backing card or insert and measure the resulting bundle.
  2. Measure the opening width. Record whether the measurement is inside the seams or across the outside of the bag.
  3. Record usable body height. Separate the product area from a zipper, header, flap, handle or sealing allowance.
  4. Include depth. Bulky items need room to open the bag around the product. For gusseted bags, state width, opened gusset and height separately and send a sketch.
  5. Confirm the fit. A flat outline is not enough for a thick or irregular product. Agree the required clearance and check a sample where fit matters.

Bag suppliers do not all publish dimensions on the same basis. For example, ClearBags' usable-space guidance measures inside the seams and beneath a zipper, without including a flap. Use that as a measurement distinction, not an assumption about every PackPoly listing.

Garment, flap and header bags need extra details

For a flap bag, state body width x body length plus the separate flap. For a hanging header bag, separate the product body from the header and cross seal. For a slider bag, allow for the closure area. The garment packaging category helps compare these formats; they should not all be ordered using the same unqualified width x height pair.

Keep an outer courier pack separate from the clear inner garment bag. If the packed item includes a box or hanger, give its dimensions as well.

Inches, millimetres and thickness are different measurements

NIST defines one inch as exactly 25.4 mm. Multiply inches by 25.4 for millimetres, or divide millimetres by 25.4 for inches. Film thickness is a separate measurement, normally stated here in micron. A larger bag is not automatically a thicker bag.

Size, capacity and 1 kg price are not the same thing

“1 kg price” means the rate per kilogram of bags. “Bag for 1 kg” describes a filling or carrying requirement. Neither establishes a universal width, length or micron: one kilogram of a dense component occupies a different volume from one kilogram of a lightweight product.

Send the actual contents and packed dimensions if you ask for a 500 g, 1 kg or 5 kg capacity bag. Do not convert a capacity name into inch dimensions without confirming the item and construction. The 25 kg minimum order is the weight of bags ordered, not each bag's load capacity. For piece-count questions, see how many bags are in 1 kg.

What to send with a size enquiry

Provide the material or sample description, width x body length in inches, gusset/flap/header allowances, desired single-wall micron, closure, printing, order weight and delivery destination. Tell us if the bag will touch food and we will confirm a suitable grade.

Ask us to confirm a bag specification. No size in this guide is a food-contact, strength or capacity certification.

Next, clarify thickness with our micron and gauge guide. Compare zip lock bag listings, or use the Karachi packaging supplier guide for a multi-product enquiry.
